The 3rd Annual Temple Community Treasures Painting Contest

Temple Historic Preservation Board and Kasberg, Patrick, and Associates (KPA) of Temple are pleased to present the 3rd Annual Temple Community Treasures Painting Contest.  We are hosting this contest as part of Temple's observance of National Preservation Month in May.  The contest aims to draw community attention to the importance of protecting and preserving our historic buildings.

The rules of the contest are simple:

·        Select a building in Temple you feel is historic and appealing as a painting subject.  There is no set definition of "historic" for this contest - choose an older building in Temple.

·        This contest is open to professionals and amateurs of all ages.

·        Contestants may submit up to 3 entries.

·        Paintings created in studio or plein air will be accepted, as will paintings in oil, acrylic, watercolor, pencil, pen & ink, pastel, or mixed media.

·        Paintings must not be larger than 16 x 20 and must be framed and ready to hang with a wire hanger.  Jagged hook hangers will not be accepted.  All entries must be framed in a frame no more than 3 inches larger than the painting. Any entries in the mediums of watercolor, pencil, pen & ink, and/or pastel must be framed with glass.

All winners will be honored and recognized during May, National Preservation Month.  1st, 2nd & 3rd place winners will receive a keepsake award.  Also, our contest sponsor, KPA of Temple, has agreed to pay out the following cash prizes directly to the contest winners: 1st Place Prize $150, 2nd Place Prize $100, and 3rd Place Prize $50.

The top 20 paintings, as determined by the judges, will be compiled into a traveling exhibit, which will be displayed at local museums.

The 6th Annual Temple Community Treasures Photography Contest

The Temple Historic Preservation Board and Kasberg, Patrick, and Associates (KPA) of Temple are pleased to present the 6th Annual Temple Community Treasures Photography Contest. This contest is part of Temple's observance of National Preservation Month in May. It aims to draw community attention to the importance of protecting and preserving our historic buildings.

The rules of the contest are simple:

·          Select a building in Temple you feel is historic and appealing as a photo subject. There is no set definition of "historic" for this contest - choose an older building in Temple.

·          This contest is open to professionals and amateurs of all ages.

·          Contestants may submit up to 3 entries.

·          All entries must be printed at 8" x l0" size and framed in a frame no larger than 11" x 14".

·         Photoshopped images will not be eligible for prizes. This includes photos with the following features: composite images (blended exposures, focus stacking), cutting and pasting of sections of other photos, cloning or creating objects, or excessive blurring or excessive darkening.

·        Deliver your framed photo(s) to Ayanna Batchand-Rowe at Temple City Hall at 2 North Main Street by 5 PM on Friday, April 5, 2024.
